Speaker Bio
I’m Matt Bartels, a partner at the Alexander Group (AGI), where I lead our Global Sales Compensation Practice. My work focuses on creating strategies that drive growth and productivity. With a background spanning technology, media, manufacturing, and healthcare. I value building deep relationships with clients, collaborating with top executives as a thought partner, and but most of all, building trust through world class solutions.
My journey started with an economics degree at The University of Chicago, and MBA in finance and strategy from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, followed by strategy and operations roles at Deloitte, PwC and IBM, where I built a foundation in consulting. Since joining AGI, I’ve had the privilege of launching the Media and Consumer Technology practice. In an effort to expand AGI’s impact in the industry, I launched the AGI Media Advisory Council (MAC) and the, “Media Sales: Confidential” podcast, an interview series with industry leaders.
Today, I lead AGI’s Global Sales Compensation Practice, one of our flagship services. I’m passionate about helping executives leverage compensation as a tool for driving performance and transformation. I frequently speak and write about “leading with comp,” demonstrating how a strategic approach to sales compensation can accelerate results.
In our practice, I encourage my team to bring their best selves to work, grounded in the principles of value, impact, and service. We emphasize lifelong learning and have established AGI’s sales compensation academy to embed specialized expertise across our workforce, enabling us to deliver exceptional support to our clients.
My leadership mantra is simple: Just Be You, but better. I’m dedicated to helping our clients and team members succeed and grow, whether through building trust, delivering actionable insights, or simply supporting them. At AGI, we’re more than advisors; we’re partners in shaping a more successful future for everyone we work with.
